More often than not, legal cases involving a car crash or another injury-causing incident can occur in seconds. The kinematics of vehicles and occupants may not be easy to understand when displayed in real time. A series of still frames or a slowed down animation can break down a complex crash or injury at a pace the jury can understand.
Showing different perspectives
An accident often occurs out of view of any surveillance cameras, let alone several. If you want the jury or any other legal parties to see how an accident happened, our visuals team can help. Our animators can accurately recreate the environment that a case occurred in and provide several varying perspectives. This can range from a plaintiff point of view, to an overhead view to see the entire scope of an incident, to multiple perspectives simultaneously.
Recreate environments that may have changed since the accident
If an accident occurred several years ago, the environment that may have existed at the time of the accident could be very different today. Road work, foliage trimming, and construction can vastly alter the scene. Our animators are dedicated to examining all the evidence available to them and often reference resources such as archived satellite images and weather and lighting conditions to ensure that the environment they are recreating is accurate to the exact day and time that their client’s case occurred.
Helping jury understand distance, size, and spatial relationships
Estimating factors such as distance, especially from memory, can be difficult. Our visuals team is able to accurately recreate the environment a case occurred in through industry standard 3D software and technology such as 3D laser scanning, drone surveying, and photogrammetry. These measurements can also be used to create 2D scale diagrams for presentation. Using several of the key elements listed above, our visuals can make it easier for the jury or other legal parties to understand spatial relationships.

Chelsea Cramer is a Medical Illustrator and Animator at ARCCA who specializes in forensic medical animation and illustration. Working hand in hand with our technical experts, as well as our clients, she creates technical and scientifically accurate 2D and 3D visuals to serve their needs using her medical knowledge, the applicable forensic and biomechanical data, and the latest technology.
Matthew Mlodzienski is a Forensic Animator with a wide variety of expertise, and a specialization in depicting automotive collisions. He has experience building bespoke environments using photographs, 3D laser scans and testimony to provide accurate settings for animations. He is capable of both working closely with experts to create visuals depicting their engineering opinions, as well as independently developing demonstrative visuals.
