Dr. Villamar is a Senior Biomechanist specializing in the study of forces and mechanics as they relate to human injuries. Her investigations involve analyses of the forces produced during potentially injurious scenarios, and the associated human body responses. Her investigations consider the unique biomechanical attributes and human factors involved in each scenario. Dr. Villamar applies these tools to a variety of incidents, including motor vehicle collisions, slips, trips, and falls, work place incidents, and pedestrian impacts.

Dr. Villamar has an extensive research background that has leveraged a variety of techniques, including medical imaging, human volunteer testing, robotic interactions, wearable biomedical instrumentation, musculoskeletal modeling, and eye movement tracking. As part of Dr. Villamar’s Ph.D. at Northwestern University, she directed a series of projects aimed at understanding the biomechanical deficits in individuals with recurring ankle sprains. At ARCCA, Dr. Villamar continues to be involved in research investigations of human motion and injury tolerance thresholds.
