A man was cleaning the gutters on a two-story house using an extension ladder when he fell to the ground, breaking his wrist. ARCCA ergonomics experts were able to determine if the ladder was the appropriate tool for the task, if it was setup properly and if the load limits were not exceeded for the type of ladder. The forensic ergonomic analysis included an inspection of the ladder and premise that revealed scrapes and a handprint on the window to the left of where the ladder was positioned. This indicated that the ladder was adequate for the task, but the victim had been using it improperly by overreaching instead of descending the ladder and repositioning it before attempting to complete the work.
