Why You Need A Qualified Biomechanical Engineer To Determine Injury Causation
Biomechanical engineers apply the laws of physics and the tools and approaches of mechanical engineering to the joints and tissues of the human body. They investigate the response of the human body to the application of mechanical forces to determine the potential for injury. In an incident where injuries are claimed, it is not their role to proffer opinions regarding the presence of any diagnosed injuries, but rather to evaluate causation and determine whether a causal relationship exists between the claimed injuries and a specific incident. Medical doctors are trained to diagnose injuries, but often times they lack the expertise and a sufficient technical basis to evaluate the collision environment and provide opinions regarding injury causation.
