The insureds had new carpet installed in their basement, and several years later mold was found under the carpet. Both of the insureds claimed medical ailments allegedly related to the mold. ARCCA’s certified industrial hygienist performed a site inspection and obtained a mold sample. The sample was sent to an affiliated forensic toxicologist to determine if it was a variety harmful to health. In this case it was not a dangerous variety, so the expert developed a general remediation plan, including moisture intrusion remediation.
