A driver claimed to have parked his vehicle, took out his keys and went inside his house. About ten minutes later he heard a crash and found his vehicle had rolled down a hill into some trees with the airbag deployed. An ARCCA engineer inspected the vehicle and completed a diagnostics evaluation on an exemplar vehicle. He determined that in that particular vehicle the airbags would not have deployed without the key in the ignition and in the ‘on’ position.
