Golf carts are required to traverse variable terrain, and sometimes they tip over causing injury to the occupants. ARCCA has investigated these incidents and found many occur as a result of handling and stability design defects, as well as terrain and driver input. Often, occupant protection systems on golf carts are either non-existent or inadequate at best. Readily available restraint system designs could dramatically improve occupant restraint and survivability when rollovers and impacts occur. ARCCA experts have worked on redesigning carts with occupant protection systems, and testing has shown that these new designs could have prevented injuries.
