ARCCA engineers played an integral part in designing ejection seat and emergency escape systems, as well as helicopter crash resistant seating, for U.S. Army and Naval aircraft, and our engineers continue to be involved in studying aircraft crashes. Using the knowledge gained from working with military aircraft, our engineers are able to evaluate private and commercial aircraft accidents.
In one such case, ARCCA biomechanical experts, working with our seat belt experts, looked at issues relating to a commercial airline crash. They focused primarily on the events leading up to the crash as well as analyzing what happened to the passengers during the time from loss of control to impact.
Pictured on the left above is a live ejection from a military aircraft. The design and testing of the ejection seat shown was significantly impacted by the work of ARCCA’s engineers.
