Dr. Benda is a Senior Biomechanist with extensive experience in developing and executing solutions to engineering problems. He specializes in the study of the structural mechanics of the human body, forensic biomechanics, the study of human injury mechanisms and the interaction of humans and medical devices.

During the first half of his career, Dr. Benda concentrated on structural engineering, doing work in stress analysis, structural dynamics, and earthquake engineering. In 1990, he left that field to pursue a Ph.D. in Medical Engineering in an attempt to focus his structural training on the intricacies of the human body.

Dr. Benda was accepted into a program jointly offered by MIT and Harvard Medical School that emphasized an engineering or quantitative approach to human physiology, disease, and injury.

While working towards his Ph.D., Dr. Benda completed three semesters of coursework at Harvard Medical School and twelve weeks of clinical rotations at Mt. Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, MA. He has added to his knowledge by taking coursework in human anatomy at Temple University Medical School.

Because of his academic and professional experience, Dr. Benda brings a unique combination of knowledge in structural mechanics, human anatomy and physiology, and medical therapies and equipment.
