ARCCA Engineers awarded at the 2024 NAFE Summer Conference!
Last month, two of our senior engineers Wade Lanning, Ph.D. and Michael Stichter, Ph.D., PE presented ‘Forensic Deformation Analysis of Clevis Failure’ at the 2024 NAFE Summer Conference and were awarded with Best Technical Presentation!
Their presentation detailed a case study where photographic evidence proved sufficient for a forensic failure analysis of a failed farm clevis that was no longer available for physical inspection or testing. By comparing photos of the subject farm clevis with exemplar tests, and by applying deformation mechanics to analyze how the clevis changed shape as it failed, our experts were able to determine whether the clevis failed below its working load limit (WLL) and whether a citation issued by the Mine Safety and Health Administration for using the subject clevis over its WLL was merited.
Congratulations to Wade and Mike for their accomplishment! Learn more about our forensic engineers’ work at ARCCA here: https://arcca.com/capabilities/engineering/
