Whether urban, suburban or rural, wherever there is sloping terrain, the need exists for retaining walls. There are many types of walls used for different applications and, unfortunately, they are not all designed or constructed as well as they should be, resulting in wall failure. When that wall is located in a basement, underground parking structure, or roadway cut or tunnel, the damage can be significant and costly.
