For Your Child’s Safety, Remove Those Bulky Winter Coats While Riding In A Vehicle
Now that the cold winter weather is finally upon us, keep in mind that large bulky coats on children significantly degrade the crash protection provided by child car seats and seat belts. Whenever possible, warm up the car and put the child in the car seat or seat belt without his/her coat. If this is not possible, make sure you adjust the car seat harness straps sufficiently to compress the coat as much as possible.
Keep in mind that bulky coats degrade the crash protection for adults in seat belts as well. So warm up your car and take off your coat before buckling up!
