Ergonomics cases may involve injured workers, and ARCCA experts are often asked to determine whether the worker’s job could have caused the injury and/or whether the worker’s training and supervision were sufficient. For example, at a distribution warehouse, employees were trained how to lift objects safely, but it was found that they were handling some objects that exceeded their strength capabilities.  It was determined that many of the low back pain injuries claimed by the workers were caused by the repetitive manual handling of these loads in awkward positions, and that their training was not sufficient to overcome this factor.
