ARCCA’s experts are frequently asked to identify the cause of seat failures. In this case, a tractor trailer was traveling at normal highway speeds when the driver swerved and went off the road, resulting in the failure of the air suspension seat. The restrained driver lurched forward and was impaled by the gear shift. Our seat expert inspected the seat and determined the cause of failure. He developed an alternate design that eliminated the defect and tested it along with the production model on a quasi pull test to prove its effectiveness.
